Rashad Butler was a young man of many talents and interests. Galluzzo, blinded by prejudice, brutally assaulted Rashad, leaving him with severe injuries that landed him in the hospital. In stark contrast to Rashad's life was that of Quinn Collins. Quinn was a popular white student, the shining star of the school's basketball team. He lived with his mother and brother in the same community as Rashad, but their lives were worlds apart. Quinn had a close bond with Galluzzo, who had stepped in as a father figure after the death of his own father in Afghanistan. Quinn was a silent witness to the brutal assault on Rashad, recognizing both the victim and the perpetrator from a distance. The incident left Quinn in a whirlwind of internal turmoil.
