At the helm of the Heart of Gold was Zaphod Beeblebrox, a flamboyant character with two heads and three arms. Zaphod was Ford's semi-cousin and, more importantly, the President of the Galaxy. He had absconded with the Heart of Gold for reasons known only to him, causing a significant uproar among the galactic authorities. Zaphod's eccentricity and unpredictability added a new dimension of uncertainty to Arthur and Ford's already precarious situation. His actions were as unpredictable as the Infinite Improbability Drive itself, making him a wild card in the unfolding saga.
