01Why You Attract What You Hate

We all have that one friend who constantly complains about their terrible luck, only to watch them stumble into yet another disastrous situation. It feels like a cruel joke of the universe, but there is a very specific, mechanical reason why this happens over and over again. To understand the Law of Attraction, we first have to understand that the universe operates in a completely neutral manner, much like the law of gravity. Gravity does not care if you are a wonderful person or a terrible person; if you walk off the edge of a diving board, you are going to fall. The Law of Attraction functions with the exact same impartial consistency. It simply responds to whatever energetic signal you are broadcasting, and it gives you more of the same. The problem is that most of us are completely unaware of the signals we are sending out into the world. We operate on autopilot, reacting to everything around us, which leads to something Michael J. Losier calls non-deliberate attraction. We attract things by default, simply because we are not paying attention to the words we use and the thoughts we entertain. The most profound realization you can have about the Law of Attraction is that the universe does not process negative words. When you use words like "don't," "not," and "no," your brain actually has to picture the exact thing you are trying to avoid. If I ask you not to think about a giant pink elephant wearing sunglasses, your brain instantly conjures up the image of that exact pink elephant. You cannot process the absence of something without first focusing heavily on its presence. This is why our everyday vocabulary is secretly sabotaging our desires. How often do you catch yourself saying things like, "I don't want to be late," or "I hope I don't get sick," or "I don't want to deal with another terrible boss"? From your perspective, you are expressing a desire for punctuality, health, and a good working environment. From the universe’s perspective, however, your focus is entirely fixated on being late, getting sick, and dealing with a terrible boss. The Law of Attraction simply looks at what you are focusing on and says, "Your wish is my command." Consider a person who has just gone through a painful breakup because their partner was constantly dishonest. When they re-enter the dating world, their primary mantra becomes, "I do not want to date another liar." They talk about how much they hate lying. They tell their friends how exhausted they are by dishonest people. They write on their dating profile, "No liars allowed." What is the central theme of their entire energetic output? Lying. Because they are giving all of their attention, energy, and focus to dishonesty, the Law of Attraction dutifully lines up more dishonest people for them to meet. They are engaging in non-deliberate attraction by focusing heavily on the exact thing they despise. The universe does not hear the word "no"; it only hears the subject of the sentence. To stop attracting what you hate, you must fundamentally change your vocabulary, which in turn changes your focus. Losier suggests a brilliant, highly effective tool to short-circuit this negative loop. Whenever you catch yourself using the words "don't," "not," or "no," you simply stop and ask yourself one powerful question: "So, what do I actually want?" This question acts as a mental reset button. If you catch yourself saying, "I don't want to be late," you ask yourself, "So, what do I want?" The answer is, "I want to arrive early and relaxed." Instantly, your brain shifts its focus from the stress of being late to the calm anticipation of arriving on time. If you say, "I don't want to be broke anymore," you ask the pivot question and realize, "I want to experience financial abundance and peace of mind." The moment you shift your vocabulary from what you oppose to what you desire, you completely change the signal you are broadcasting. This simple pivot is the foundation of becoming a deliberate creator of your reality. It takes practice, because we have been culturally conditioned to bond over our complaints and focus on our problems. We gather around the water cooler at work to complain about the management, effectively ensuring that the management remains a source of frustration. We swap stories about how terrible the dating pool is, guaranteeing that our next date will be just as disappointing. By consciously policing your own vocabulary, you step out of this cultural default mode. You begin to train your mind to seek out solutions rather than wallowing in problems. You stop feeding your energy to the things you hate, which starves them of their power over your life. This is the first and most critical step in harnessing the Law of Attraction: you must stop actively asking for the things you do not want.

02The Hidden Power of Your Emotional Vibes

Have you ever walked into a room right after two people had a massive argument, and even though they were perfectly silent, you could feel the heavy, suffocating tension hanging in the air? That invisible but undeniable energy is exactly what dictates the flow of your entire life, and it is what we commonly refer to as a "vibe" or a vibration. In the context of the Law of Attraction, a vibration is simply a mood or a feeling that you are experiencing at any given moment. You are constantly emitting a vibration, whether you realize it or not. There is no off switch to your energetic output. Every single moment of your life, you are broadcasting a frequency based on how you feel. These vibrations fall into two basic categories: positive and negative. Joy, love, excitement, abundance, and peace are positive vibrations. Anger, fear, jealousy, lack, and frustration are negative vibrations. The Law of Attraction acts as a giant cosmic matching service, constantly pairing you with people, events, circumstances, and opportunities that match your current vibrational output. Think of yourself as a human radio tower. If you tune your internal dial to a frequency of anger and frustration, you are broadcasting on the "Negative Vibe" channel. You cannot tune your radio to a heavy metal station and expect to hear calming classical music through the speakers. It defies the laws of physics. Similarly, you cannot broadcast a vibration of constant lack and expect to receive an abundance of wealth and opportunity. The frequencies simply do not match. The universe is responding to your mood, not your polite requests or your moral standing. This explains why people who are fiercely desperate for money rarely ever win the lottery or land the big promotion. Their desperation emits a powerful negative vibration of lack, and the universe matches that lack with more situations that cause them to feel broke. To understand how we get trapped in these vibrational frequencies, Losier introduces a concept called the Observation Cycle. This cycle is the default setting for human existence. It works like this: you observe something in your reality, that observation generates a feeling a vibration, the Law of Attraction responds to that vibration by giving you more of it, you observe the new thing, and the cycle continues indefinitely. Let us look at a classic example of a negative Observation Cycle. You wake up in the morning and stub your toe on the bed frame. You observe the pain, and you emit a vibration of anger. Because you are vibrating with anger, the Law of Attraction instantly lines up another frustrating event. You walk to the kitchen and spill your hot coffee all over your pristine white shirt. You observe the stain, your anger intensifies, and your vibration drops even lower. You get in your car to drive to work, and because you are now a walking magnet for frustration, you hit every single red light and get stuck behind a slow-moving truck. By the time you reach the office, you proudly declare, "I am having a terrible day!" You are entirely correct, but you do not realize that you are the one who orchestrated it by allowing the Observation Cycle to run wild. The beauty of the Law of Attraction is that the Observation Cycle works perfectly in the positive direction as well. If you wake up and savor the feeling of a warm, comfortable bed, you emit a positive vibration of contentment. The universe matches that vibration, perhaps by ensuring your coffee tastes exceptionally good that morning. You observe the delicious coffee, your positive vibration increases, and you hit all green lights on the way to work. You arrive feeling victorious, and your boss unexpectedly praises your recent project. This positive upward spiral is available to you at all times, provided you know how to consciously direct it. The ultimate secret to mastering your vibrations lies in understanding a massive loophole in the universe's design. The Law of Attraction cannot tell the difference between a vibration you are emitting because you are observing something real, and a vibration you are emitting because you are vividly imagining something. Your brain and your energetic field respond to imagination exactly the same way they respond to physical reality. This means you do not have to wait for something good to happen in order to feel good. You can deliberately generate a positive vibration entirely from within, simply by daydreaming about a desired outcome, remembering a joyful memory, or focusing on things you appreciate. By artificially injecting a positive vibration into your energetic field, you hijack the Observation Cycle. You force the universe to respond to your self-generated joy by delivering real-world circumstances that match it. You are no longer a victim of whatever happens to be in front of you; you become the deliberate architect of your own energetic frequency.
