01Geralt, a monster hunter, is on a mission to wipe out evil
Meet Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher by trade and a monster hunter by calling. His life's mission? To rid the world of evil, one monster at a time. This isn't just a job for him, it's a personal crusade. Our story kicks off with Geralt licking his wounds after a fierce battle with a beast in the city of Wyzim. He's holed up in the Temple of Melitele in Ellander, a place of worship. Here, a mute temple servant named Iola tends to him. Their close encounter sends Geralt into a deep sleep, where he dreams of his recent fight. It's a stark reminder of the dangers he faces daily and the sacrifices he makes in his quest to wipe out evil. When he wakes up, Nenneke, a temple priestess, suggests he try a trance. It's a spiritual practice that could give him a glimpse into his future. But Geralt isn't interested in what's to come. He's a live-in-the-moment kind of guy, and he turns down the offer. His refusal shows his acceptance of the risks and uncertainties that come with his line of work. His recovery is cut short by the arrival of two knights from the Order of the White Rose, Count Falwick and Sir Tailles. They've got a message from the prince of Ellander: Geralt needs to leave the city. Geralt agrees, but he's not in a rush. He gives himself three days to pack up and go. Sir Tailles isn't happy with this and challenges Geralt to a duel. Chatting with his buddy Dandelion, a minstrel, Geralt ponders the irony of his job. The more monsters he kills, the fewer there are to hunt. This, along with the growing dislike for Witchers among the people, makes Geralt decide to leave the temple. As he's about to leave the city, he's stopped by a group of soldiers led by the prince’s guard's dwarf captain, Dennis Cranmer. Tailles is still itching for a fight, and Cranmer sets a strange rule for the duel, seemingly to give Tailles an advantage. But Geralt isn't fazed. He wins the duel and is finally free to leave the city. Before he goes, Geralt unexpectedly falls into the trance Nenneke had suggested. He sees a bloody and grim prediction of his future. But Geralt shrugs it off and continues on his journey, ready to face whatever dangers lie ahead. This is just the beginning of Geralt's extraordinary adventures. Each tale is a testament to his bravery, determination, and unwavering commitment to his mission. They delve deep into the complexities of his job and the moral dilemmas he faces in his quest to rid the world of evil.
02Geralt is stuck in a tricky plot while trying to lift a deadly curse
Geralt, our hero, finds himself in a sticky situation. He's got to lift a curse off a girl who's turned into a striga. Now, a striga is no ordinary creature. It's huge, fast, and downright terrifying. The girl is the unfortunate offspring of King Foltest and his sister Adda. Despite his daughter's monstrous form, Foltest is hell-bent on keeping her alive, even threatening Geralt's life if he tries anything funny. But not everyone agrees with the King. His advisers, Segelin and Velerad, think it's a bad idea to keep the striga alive. They're fed up with the constant loss of lives caused by the creature. So, they hatch a plan with Geralt to kill the striga, promising him a hefty reward. Then there's Lord Ostrit, a big shot from Novigrad. He's got his own plans. He wants the girl to stay a striga, thinking it could help him overthrow King Foltest. Ostrit admits to Geralt that he was in love with the girl's mother, Adda, and blames Foltest for stealing her from him. When Geralt turns down his money and walks away, Ostrit tries to kill him. In the end, Geralt uses Ostrit as bait to lure out the striga. He studies her, learns her moves, and with a mix of quick reflexes, precise hits, and powerful magic, he manages to lift the curse. But it's not a clean victory. The striga leaves a nasty wound on his neck, knocking him out for days. This whole ordeal shows us just how determined and skilled Geralt is. He's willing to risk his life to do what he thinks is right. It also gives us a glimpse into the complicated politics and personal relationships in Geralt's world.
